I recently met Dragons' Dens' 'Theo Paphitus' 

I was lucky enough to meet the dragon and tell him all about my children's book coming out later this spring! He was really encouraging and showed lots of interest in my Children's book series I have been working on and has already put a request in for the first book 'Lace and the Revolting Door' how exciting!!...

A Fairy BIG Hello!!.... to all the 'Didsbury Girl Guides' who joined in the 'fairy fun' tonight, making beautiful fairy pictures with me!
We each drew a fairy character & then... added colour to their dresses, some pom-poms for decoration, colourful hair, goggley eyes, a touch of fairy dust &... hey presto... 12 fairies were born.
Here is a picture below of the group & myself with our fairy pictures!

Here is Maelyn's lovely interpretation of "Starry Night" Well done Maelyn, I love the movement you have created and the aqua colour you have used, very striking!




The second half of the lesson... 
was free draw time, where each member chose their own subject to create, such as Quinn's green monster and Maelyn's beautiful Fairy. 

Well done Quinn you have a great imagination! I love the bright green colour you have used for the body and you have created the angles for his arms very accuratley. Perhaps you could create some friends for him, in different colours, shapes and sizes? Keep up the good work!

Well done Maelyn this is a beautiful drawing and you have created some lovely shading bringing depth to the piece. Don't forget to experiment with chalk and charcoal as it is easier to smudge and create lots of different shades of light and dark.

Tricksy Pixie's Art Class was all 'Shapes and Sizes'
Fantasy Art Classes held Every Monday 10:00am - 11:00am in The Gallery at Broadstone, Broadstone Mill

creative fun this Monday at; The Tricksy Pixie Art Class in Broadstone Mill.

This Week we Explored....'Shapes and sizes'
Using four shapes we created some wonderful fantasy pictures. 
We used...  a square, a rectangle, a triangle and a circle

Firstly we coloured in our shapes...then we created an enchanted castle for a fairy princes from the shapes we had created and coloured.

We used... a 'big square' for the main castle shape
Then we added... two little squares for turrets on top of the castle
Then... one large tall rectangle between the two small turrets. This became a tower where our fairy princess lived.
Next.. we added a A triangle to the top of the princess' tower becoming a roof.

Finaly... we created a door for the castle out of a half circle 
(See Bella's lovely example left)

In the second half of the lesson... 
the class all joined in the fairy fun drawing a beautiful fairy princess to live inside their enchanted castles using the same  shapes we had used previously....

We Used... a circle for her head, a square for her body, a triangle for her skirt,  a square and few little triangles on top of her head to make a crown. We then added our own details and coloured her in to bring her to life.

Fantasy Art Classes held Every Monday 10:00am - 11:00am in The Gallery at Broadstone, Broadstone Mill

A 'fairy' BIG hello to those of you who joined in all the creative fun on Monday at;
The Tricksy Pixie Art Class in Broadstone Mill.

This Week the Class Explored....'Light and Shade'
using white chalk on pastel paper and created some wonderful pictures of faraway planets and moons. 


They created movement on the page by smuging the chalk to create trails of light behind a flying fairy (see Bella's example's left).


They then used this same smudging technique to create orbs of light around the edges of your fairies to make them glow (see Heather's glowing fairy below).


In the second half of the lesson the class all joined in the fairy fun making lovely 'fairy peg dolls' who danced along to the fairy music coming from the musical fairy glitter globe, almost as though they were dancing at a fairy ball (see above).



A Big thank you to all the parents who brought along their children to the Tricksy Pixie Art Class they were really great and all got involved and joined in the creative fun. I hope I can continue to teach and inspire them in classes to come...

Tricksy Pixie's first Art Class was magical!!
Fantasy Art Classes held Every Monday 10:00am - 11:00am

A 'fairy' BIG hello and an even BIGGER WELL DONE to those of you who joined in all the creative fun on Monday at The Tricksy Pixie Art Class at Broadstone Mill. You learned all about 'colour theory', created some wonderful and imaginative artwork & made an artist's colour wheel.  
Firstly...
The class began learning all all about mixing primary colours together to create secondary colours and each created their own artist's colour wheel to represent this. See one of the classes' creations left.

It was then time for our 'free draw' part of the day, where class members could really put their colour theory into practice using their imagination to draw a unique creation of their own mixing up their new colours from the three primary colours they had learned. 

Some of the classes’ creations were; a lovely multi-coloured butterfly, by Bella (featured left) and a beautiful fairy, by Frankie (featured left) it's amazing where your imagination can go... 


Well done all of you for having such great imaginations keep up the good work!!!

The final part was a fun game called 'copy me, copy me', where members took it in turn, drawing an object he/she kept secret from the other members, they would then join in, 'copying' the leaders actions on their own pieces of paper, not knowing what picture they were creating until, as if by magic... an image appears on the page.


Have a go yourself, play 'Copy Me' 'Copy Me' at home with your family or a friend and see what you can create!

Come along to next week’s class... Where we will be 'getting crafty', making small fantasy/fairy characters as well as learning a new art technique.

Tricksy Pixie fun at Springlebury!!!

Hello to everyone who was at the Springlebury festival  & joined in the fun fantasy drawing competition.
It was such a lovely hot day - summer is finally here!!

It was a great day last Sunday when I held a stall with Queen Azora & met lots of lovely families at Springlebury festival in Marple Bridge.
The fantasy drawing competition saw lots of great young artists in the making who have entered in with chance of winning a membership to the Tricksy Pixie Club . Good luck to all!!

There was some great work - I saw pictures of fairies & elves, flowers & trees, goblins, castles & knights on horseback…what great imaginations you all have!

I have been collating the many, many entries in this week and will be uploading them onto this blog on Monday, watch this space. The winner will be announced on the website soon.

Tricksy Pixie is now a mentor for the Young Entrepreneurs Awards 09 in Stockport.

Tricksy Pixie AKA Lindsey is mentoring Ludworth Primary in Marple and had their first meeting last Thursday where Lindsey helped them with their logo designs for bags they will be marketing for the project.

Each YE club has £500 from the local authority and will set up a business, researching the market, designing, making, marketing and selling their product.

Each school will have a stand and be judged on the strength of their business to win Stockport Young Entrepreneurs of the Year award, presented by the Apprentice's own Ruth Badger.

”It was lovely to meet you all on Thursday, you have some great ideas and lovely designs - I’m sure the bags will look great!! Good luck Ludworth I'll see you soon for the second stage of the design work!!"

Happy Birthday celebrations to Max and Ellie who had a fantastic 4^th birthday party on Saturday!!!

Max and Ellie - the terrific two!! had a party in a huge marquee in their lovely garden.
The sun was shining and everyone had a great time joining in the fun and games.
Max looked great in his pirate outfit matching the pirate theme where he had a fantastic treasure chest birthday cake full of gold chocolate coins.
Ellie was very pretty in her colourful dress and tutu - she looked like a fairy. Ellie’s birthday cake was a Barbie princess cake, it looked wonderful!

“I hope you both enjoyed singing twinkle on the karaoke, you were great!” Have you found Sid the worm yet in your garden, I know he wriggled away from Lucia into the earth after the party?

Happy birthday again Max and Ellie!!
